Evelin attended community college as a first-generation college student. She then transferred to Fresno State to earn her Bachelor's and Master's of Science in Biology. Her research examined teaching practices of university instructors, the factors that influence these practices, and how to innovate STEM teaching for better learning. Her goal is to increase student participation and interest in STEM fields through active, student-centered, and creative teaching and learning experiences.
