Eric Solberg named Interim Head Baseball Coach

After 34 seasons, Ron Scott has retired as the FCC head baseball coach. His longtime assistant, Eric Solberg, has been named the Interim Head Coach by the college. 

Solberg is a Fresno native and played baseball and soccer at Bullard High School. He attended Fresno State where he played baseball as a pitcher from 1982-85. He was drafted to the Kansas City Royals and played there from 1985- 1986.  He returned to his hometown and coached baseball at Bullard High School.

Solberg started as Scott’s assistant coach at FCC in 1989 and never looked back. He was also awarded the National Assistant Coach of the Year in 2019 by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Solberg has also been the men’s head soccer coach for 24 years, winning a State Championship in 2017 and 2019. In 2016 he was awarded the National Coach of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches of America.
