Credit for Prior Learning

Fresno City College now offers Credit for Prior Learning (CPL). CPL allows a firefighter to apply for State Fire Training (SFT) certified Company Officer and/or Instructor courses not taken at Fresno City College to the Company Officer Certificate or Associate in Science Degree. Other SFT courses may also count toward the 42 units of General Education required for the degree.

To be considered for CPL, please send an email to firetech@fresnocitycollege.edu and request an appointment with the Fire Technology Academic Counselor. The Counselor will complete a Student Education Plan (SEP) that will map out the classes required to complete your degree. You will also get additional information on how to submit the required documents for CPL approval.

For more information on Credit for Prior Learning, please email the Fire Tech Counselor at firetech@fresnocitycollege.edu.
