Elena Harvey Collins and Dr. Leece Lee-Oliver
About the Curators
Elena Harvey Collins is a British curator, writer, and artist, using these fields of practice to ask questions about place, public space, and spatial justice. Since 2017 she has directed the programming at Fresno City College’s Art Space Gallery. Previously she held curatorial roles at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland. Her writing and criticism have appeared in exhibition catalogs, journals, and arts publications. She holds an MFA from CCAD in Columbus, Ohio and a B.A. from Kingston University in London.
Dr. Leece Lee-Oliver is a Blackfeet and Choctaw educator, writer, and scholar-activist whose work centers American Indian peoples, societies, histories, and cultures. Her community work, service, and research focus on wellness, the impact of historical changes brought on by colonialism, intergenerational transference of knowledge and grief, and the ethics and cultural traditions that keep American Indian peoples and communities thriving. She is the Director of American Indian Studies and an Assistant Professor of American Indian Studies and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at CSU-Fresno. Leece holds a PhD in Ethnic Studies/Native American Studies from UC Berkeley. She serves on the Board of the Fresno American Indian Health Project.
