City Art House is a repertory series of important and newly restored classic films.
Monday - Friday
Free. Open to the public
For its inaugural 2015-16 season, screenings included The Great Dictator and The Tales of Hoffmann as well as weekend festivals for The Apu Trilogy and the Wim Wenders retrospective “Portraits Along the Road.” Students and community patrons have the opportunity to see movies playing in major art-house venues across the U.S. before home video release dates. Introductions by City College instructors provide historical and aesthetic context for the movies, and lively discussions follow the screenings. City Art House is on hiatus for Fall 2016, awaiting funding to continue its programming.
